Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver, BC

It's the slacker in me. I can't believe I haven't uploaded pictures to this blog in such a long time. Well, I'm finally buckling down and doing it.

A few weeks ago, my girlfriend Lindsey, my friend Richard and I decided to do a nice leisurely hike. We chose lighthouse park because it was supposed to be fairly easy. When we arrived and started our hike, we almost immediately decided to go off the beaten track. We knew it was the right decision when we first found the rocks on the shore of the Burrard Inlet. It was a beautiful day, the scenery couldn't be better so it was bouldering time for the rest of our day. So much for the easy, leisurely hike :)

This truly was a beautiful day. It was cool but warm enough to be enjoyable and with very little breeze. As we climbed over and up the boulders surrounding Lighthouse Park, we all agreed that we made the right choice to stay off the beaten path.

We slowly meandered our way along the park's perimeter, occasionally stopping to drink in the magnificence of it all. We stopped at a particularly beautiful spot for a group photo before moving on to a small beach.

At this point, we had been hiking few a few hours and we were getting tired of the endless boulders. We decided to make our way back to the beaten path and then to the car. We stopped for a short period at the actual famous lighthouse (famous because it was the first non-native structure to be built on the north shore). It was here that we also got to enjoy some bird watching! Two young eagles sat perched atop silver firs looking out to the Burrard Inlet. It was a nice ending to a really great hike. A must return destination!
